Meet Emma

Welcome

Platinum Hair (1).png

I’m Emma and I live in Derbyshire.

I genuinely adore every aspect of my job and consider myself fortunate to pursue it as a career. It's not just about styling; I take pleasure in building strong connections and lasting trust with my Brides to Be, their parties, clients, learners, and even other suppliers.

Each week, I meet numerous new faces, listen to their stories, get to know them as individuals, learn about their interests, and often hear their love stories. This is a significant and cherished part of my work, and I am thankful for everyone I have had the privilege to interact with on my journey. Therefore, I believe it's only right to share a bit about myself and my story with you.

I have dedicated 17 years to the hair industry, kickstarting my career as an apprentice right after school at a renowned local salon. After five years of experience there, I bravely transitioned to self-employment. Thanks to the incredible support from The Princes Trust, I successfully made this leap. Initially focused on coloring, I had occasional experience with styling but hadn't considered it as a full-time career or styled a bride for her special day yet.

One year into being self-employed, a client asked me to style their hair and their bridesmaids' hair for their wedding. Although it was out of my comfort zone and something I had never done before, I decided to say yes. The night before, I was restless with worries, but the morning turned out to be amazing. The bride was thrilled, and I had a wonderful time. I am grateful for that opportunity as it has shaped my career, showing me that my worries stemmed from caring deeply about my work and wanting to deliver the best results.

That was just the beginning of my journey with Brides and Bridal parties - the first of more than 400, in fact! Following on from that wedding, I gained a real love and passion for the styling side of hairdressing and decided that was the new direction I wanted to take with my business. I booked my self onto several Bridal courses and Styling masterclasses to gain more knowledge and perfect my skills to be able to deliver the best I could.

In 2019, my diary had to be closed for bookings because it was fully booked for the first time. It was also the year I had the honor of winning the titles of Bridal Stylist of the Year both Regionally and Nationally at The English Wedding Awards, an achievement that still feels surreal to me! Winning these awards marked my debut in the Wedding Industry competition scene, and it wasn't the end of the journey. I am grateful to have been a finalist in many more competitions, clinched the Bronze award in The Hair + Beauty Talent Awards, emerged as the winner in the Wedding Incs, received the Silver award in the BeautyFull awards, and achieved the significant milestone of ranking 6th out of hundreds of talented stylists at the Hair and Beauty Awards for the Best Bridal Hairstylist. Furthermore, I have obtained my training qualifications, enabling me to share my passion and expertise with aspiring individuals looking to enter the world of hairstyling or to enhance the skills of those already working in the industry.

Where it began

Family Life

I love my work, and it is a significant part of my identity. Apart from being a dedicated stylist, I am also: A mother to two wonderful children and a wife to my incredible husband of eight years. They inspire me greatly, and I cherish the bond we share.

I have various roles within my family and friend circle: daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and a close friend to many. Being part of such a close-knit family is a blessing, as we provide unwavering support to one another. My friends hold a significant place in my heart, and I cherish the deep connections we share. These friendships are lifelong, and I am grateful for the mutual understanding and bond we have.

Balancing the demands of running a business, juggling various roles, and taking care of our household leaves me with very little free time currently. However, when I do manage to unwind, you'll likely find me engrossed in a self-development book, taking a leisurely stroll, or diving into a DIY project – a passion of mine that has often surprised me with what can be achieved through sheer determination.

Yet, my ultimate joy on days off is spending quality time with my family, creating cherished memories together. It's truly unbeatable.

If you have got this far reading a snippet about me and how I got here; thank you!!
I can't wait to hopefully meet you and learn all about you too.
Lots of love
